The A380 is the Airbus flagship with capability to carry 525 passengers in a 3 class configuration over 15 200 Km. Program was officially launched in June 2000 and entered into service in October 2007. This Superjumbo which is the largest commercial airplane flying today features 4 engines in the range of 70 000 lbs and a maximum take off weight of 560 tons. Liebherr is a major Supplier of the Airbus A380, through her Air Systems and Flight Control Actuation Systems.

Our Air System product line supplies:

  • The Engine Bleed Air System, installed mainly in the pylon and engine nacelle. This is a compact switchless electro-pneumatic system. Liebherr design and manufactures particularly the various high pressure and high temperature valves, the precooler heat exchanger. The control software is embedded into the IMA modules of the Aircraft.
  • The Pneumatic air distribution system which drive the hot air toward the air conditioning packs and insures appropriate redundancy.
  • The Air Hydraulic Cooling System, installed in a flap track fairing under the wing. Its mission is to cool the case drain flow going through the engine mounted main hydraulic pumps. This system features heat exchangers and hydraulically driven fans.
  • The Supplemental Cooling System, installed in the belly fairing of the Aircraft, under the fuselage. It features a vapour cycle cooling system associated to liquid cooling loops which are carrying cooling in every places where this cooling is required like Galleys hosting food and beverages.

Our Flight Control Actuation Product line supplies:

  • A complete set of components allowing to move all control surfaces ( slats and flaps) of the high lift system integrated to the A380 wings. The Slat Actuation System is installed in the wing leading edge. The Liebherr supplies consist of rotary actuators, transmission shafts, intermediates gearboxes. The Flap actuation System is installed in the wing trailing edge and is composed of an hydraulically driven power drive unit, several huge Gear rotary actuators, transmission shafts, intermediates gearboxes…
