Environment is a key consideration for Liebherr’s Aerospace and Transportation Division, and is incorporated in its strategy under the following forms:
- All new investments (buildings and facilities, machine-tools, toolings) systematically comply with the highest level of environmental protection
- All sites have quantified targets for the reduction of their environmental footprint (example of parameters that are monitored, are energy and water consumption, waste treatment)
- Liebherr invests into new technologies that will allow future aircraft to substantially reduce C02 emissions, NOx and noise emissions. Liebherr’s research and development work are led in the frame of the targets set by ACARE (Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe): 50% reduction in CO2, 80% reduction in NOx, 50% reduction in noise emissions
- Liebherr’s product design and development processes systematically take into account, in addition to the contribution to the CO2, NOx and noise reduction targets, the products’ manufacturing and life-end disposal cycles and their impact on the environment.
Accordingly Liebherr fulfill the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14001:2005 (environment protection) and REACH (EC) Regulation No. 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and the Council.
