The Liebherr plant in Ehingen inaugurates a welding proficiency centre

At the end of July 2012, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH inaugurated a welding proficiency centre. In the future, 200 to 300 employees from the mobile crane division of the Liebherr Group are to be trained and qualified here annually.

By establishing a welding proficiency centre at the location in Ehingen, Liebherr is investing in an important core competence and has thereby ensured that the level of welding excellence is retained for the long term in the production of mobile cranes. The training and further education in welding techniques that, until now, was carried out in the field of steel production has been transferred to the in-house training centre in Ehingen to systematise and professionalise this important area of training further in the future.

Eleven welding booths, each equipped with an electrode welder and an inert gas welding machine, a clamping table, state-of-the-art suction technology and various welding rods, guarantee that the best possible basic conditions are available. Now trainees, welders, steel construction fitters, service engineers as well as the employees of subcontractors and customers can be trained, receive further education and be examined there under the professional supervision of two instructors. The personnel in charge of the training centre work closely with the welding specialists in the areas of construction and manufacturing to adapt the training content continuously to the specific demands of the cranes.
